Sorry about the delay! I had about 5 minutes left on the download yesterday morning when the whole thing crashed on me. So here it is at last. The Teacher's Lounge Reviews: Putt Putt Saves the Zoo!

The second half of Putt Putt Saves the Zoo is up and running on youtube. Next week I will announce my new game plus talk about my thoughts on the educational value of Putt Putt Saves the Zoo. Part 1 Part 2 I teases this a little on twitter yesterday but (although a little later than intended) I am pleased to reveal my first of two new shows "The Teacher's Lounge." The joke in the title being that as a little kid I figured if the teachers had a special room all to themselves they were probably all secretly playing games...because seriously why wouldn't you be? :) While the reality for teachers is that they rarely have enough to free time to waste during the day, I think the teacher's lounge still hold some mystical appeal for students. In fact I did have a student once ask me if I played on my DS during my lunch break. I had to confess usually no, but if I'd had the time I totally would have! The Teacher's Lounge is going to be a Let's Play channel where I'll play through games to find their educational value. Sometimes they will be flat out educatinment games that are specifically designed for children and sometimes I'll pick games that are more mainstream and talk about implementation. The structure of the show will be that I'll just extemporaneously talk while playing the game itself and at the end do a review episode where I discuss what I think about it. Sometimes I'll pick games I've already played so I have an idea of what I'll say in the review anyway, but sometimes I'll play brand new games and tell you my conclusions at the end! Meanwhile though, I really hope that all you great people on the internets will be able to engage with me on the value of the game and cool observations as we go. My first episode is now live on youtube and I've both excited and a little terrified. I already have a few ideas for how to improve it for next week but any constructive feedback is welcome. The Teacher's Lounge 'should' go live every Wednesday evening from now on. I'll let you know both here and on twitter if I'm having technical issues or going to be AFK for a bit. :) Thanks for watching and thanks again to all my loyal gaming friends and family for encouraging me to go for it when I first had the idea for this show! |
