I present to you: Requiescat in Pace!
There is something about organ solos that I really love. It is probably one of the few instruments I really regret never getting to try. There is something ominous yet really epic about the sound they make. I also love how truly beautiful many old organs visually look in the great cathedrals and halls they call home. For me, one of the great benefits of composing music digitally is even though I have no skill at actually playing the organ I can still create the sounds I could only dream of making in real life.
I happened to be playing a lot of Assassin's Creed II (and it's subsequent sequels Brotherhood and Revelations) over the past month, which caused the inspiration of this piece. The title comes from what Ezio says after completing a major assassination. Considering the massive amount of people my boyfriend and I have killed in the course of these games a requiem wishing them to rest in peace seemed more than appropriate.
Requiescat in Pace was composed in Finale.
Final mix down was completed in FL Studio 10 using Wavesfactory's 1850PipeOrganPro.
For those of you who haven't checked out Wavefactory's 1850PipeOrgan I highly recommend it. I used the pro version but they have a slightly limited version available for free. I think for it's price it is a fantastic bargain.
