The original version was for piano and vocals. Honestly it was a pretty simplistic track, partially due to my lack of skills with keyboard instruments. I’ve been trying to revisit this piece for almost a year and kept getting stuck with it. Some of my problems stemmed from instrumentation choices and other from more mundane technical ones. The biggest issue for me is simply that my current mic setup really just is not that good. If I want to seriously work on complex vocal tracks, I will need funding for new mics and padding to sound proof my ‘recording booth’ (AKA corner of a room) a bit more. Recently though a conversation with a very good friend actually gave me an idea for how to fix the arranging problems I’d been having with Stars Above.
The result is a piece I feel has coalesced into the perfect embodiment of my good friend Gresha. Her sweetness flows like the serenade of solo flute I picked for the melody. I know she’s someone that will be there like the Stars Above.
Stars Above was originally compose in Finale 08 and reimagined in FL Studio 11.
It uses Spitfire Audio Orchestral Grand Piano, Spitfire Albion II Loegria, Spitfire Audio III Iceni, Spitfire Audio Harp Redux, Spitfire Audio Sable Strings, Harmor, CineWinds Core, and Harmless.
