Maybe part of it for me is I am the type of person to try to analyze and simplify emotion so I can understand it. For some reason early music seems to create a stronger reaction in me than many other types of music. I love it. I just wish it got more respect than it sometimes does.
I have always loved very early musical forms. For me there was so much beauty in the simplicity of this music. This is one of the reasons why I have always been so drawn to writing chants, madrigals, troubadour ballads, and folk tunes. At the same time I seem to find many people in the musical community who seem to treat such arts with derision. I don't know if it is that fact that these genres of music are the grandfather's of modern music or perhaps if it is because they have a stigma of being 'easy to play.' Regardless, it always feels to me that a lot of musicians only appreciate music that is full of technical finger twisters. For me, I feel that unless complexity adds to the depth of human emotion presented by the music then it is just for show.

Today I'm happy to be revealing a movement from my Mathbot trilogy. When all is said and done this one should be the second movement of the work but it was the one that flowed the most so this is where I am starting. The world of Mathbot has been heavily inspired by the Tron Legacy soundtrack (thank you Daft Punk for being awesome) and has been an absolute joy to delve into. This movement does not utilize electronic instruments quite as much as the other two will because I wanted to strip the sound down to it's core elements for the adagio movement. AKA, I really wanted to emphasize that cello sound! Adagio for Mathbot was composed and mixed in FL Studio 11. It uses the following: Spitfire Audio: Albion I, Albion III Iceni, Solo Strings Image-Line: Harmor, Harmless Please enjoy and as always thank you for listening! Adagio for Mathbot |
